You should point them to some videos of Chet playing classical. Chet was "pretty out there". After all, no one else has been as accomplished as he was as both a record producer and recording artist.

Oh, and point them to videos of Richard Smith playing classical with a thumbpick.

I know you probably won't have an opportunity to do that, but some folks have missed the thumbpicking boat with their musical arrogance.

Well I ended up getting an Ibanez AEG10NII BK. While I was there I also got a second hand Gypsy Jazz Guitar!!!

It's a Gitane DG 455. It seems to hum quite a bit so I guess let the buyer beware - but it was a good price... I hope I don't end up needing to replace the piezos or something... Never mind I guess - I'll take it into a guitar shop and see if they can do anything about it...

The action on the Ibanez seems pretty good. The GA35TCE model had been discontinued. I think AEG10NII is as close as you can get to it.
