Paul Yandell's DuoTron pickup

Paul sent me one of his DuoTron pickups to try in my CG. It sounds really great, full and rich on the treble side, and more control on the bass side. He says it sounds more like Chet than any other pickup he's heard, and I agree. I'll try to record some samples soon and post them on the audio page.

It's a little hard to see, but the DuoTron has bars under the treble strings, and the screws under the bass strings.

In the meantime, it's hard to put the Gretsch down!

In the last photo, it appears that the polepieces don't line up under the strings, but it's just the camera angle. (Or maybe my angle.)

Hi Craig,

I remember Paul saying in his original post that TV Jones was actually going to put this idea into production. Has he done this yet? Is the pickup the same as the original that comes with the guitar but modified or is it an entirely different winding configuration. Think TV could easily do the modifications? I always like trying Paul's ideas. I absolute love my Sta-Tuned devices, now my CGP stays in tune! It was pretty bad before. Well thanks for the updates!

Hi Craig,
I look forward to hearing a sample of Paul's pickup. I'll be very interested in getting one based on what you and Paul report, and depending on price and availability of course.

Thanks,
Ronnie Evans

Very interesting design. Love to try that pickup myself.

By the way I am new to the forum. I am a big Chet fan. It was Chet's style that got me hooked on guitar in the first place.

I emailed TV Jones, and he says he is in Japan currently, but he will contact Paul Y on his return to sort out the details, as he wants to make the pickup, with Pauls approval.
If I learn anymore, I will post on here.
