Never fear, Chuck...I use D'Addarios too and have for years. They are an excellent product

I remember the pricing when those current Gretsch strings first came out and thought it was horribly shameful and tacky that they charged so much for strings that, while good quality (as we know D'Addarios are), had no merit to warrant that kind of pricing. Now, apparently they're dumping them. Great bargain but the disparity between the opening price and current price should be embarrassing to them.

You may be right about ascribing qualities to the round box strings from back in the day but I remember Paul writing about having inherited a lot of those from Chet after Chet died and how he was reluctant to use them because if he did they would be gone.
