Buster used 'Garage Band' software with his Mac and I was impressed how easily he could record a song, add tracks of other instruments, even crowd effects, in a very few minutes. He claimed his secret to a good sound was to use as many mics as possible and placed them fairly close to the guitar soundhole.
When I got my Omega Lexicon pc ASIO recording studio it came with a Steinberg Cubase LE software which is almost too powerful for me. I added Joe Meeks and SuperLux condenser mics which I am pleased with but the plastic mic holders are flimsy. My ears can't discern differences of anything more expensive. Incidently, I found adding cables and DIs an unexpected expense.
