Sick and Tired of "Shredders"

Postby Mike Forbis » Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:56 am

I know that there are many of you guys out there who either remember, or enjoy playing the older style straight ahead jazz. When I go to the web for technical help, all I hear are terms like "grunge", Distortion, crank'in, growl, and crunch. I am looking for some help on making a selection for the "Warmest" jazz pickups I can buy to put on a new build. I believe in tone clarity and beauty like Chet could produce, only in a more traditional style. My best options at this point are the old Gibson
classic '57 humbuckers. I know there are guys out there with experience in clean warm graceful tone.
Can you help me?
Please

Have you considered Benedetto's pickups?

Burstbuckers(not '57 Classics)are a more faithful repro of the PAF's and mid '60's Gibby pups. They sound a lot like the pups in my '62 335(PAF's)and my 67 335(same pup just patented).Benedetto pups are the same as the Duncan Jazz pup.I have one and don't like it(very sterile)but depends on git and taste I guess. The Best, Ty M.
