I keep a humidifier in the Classical guitar case when the winter heating season starts,
Is this necessary for a Country gent, since the inside is enclosed.... any benefit to it/?
thx

Since it's a laminate guitar and enclosed, I don't see much benefit to it although I don't suppose it would hurt anything. Mine goes un-humidified during the winter months without any adverse effects. Regards, Tom W.

Rick,

Case humidifiers are better than nothing, but it is best to just humidify your whole house in the winter...especially when the heater is running. Try to keep the humidity at 40%-50% (a digital hydrometer is nice to have....they are reasonably cheap). You will fell better (less itchy skin, bloody noses), it is easier to heat the house, and your guitars won't dry out (exposed fret ends, cracks in the body of acoustic instruments, action changing).

Solid body guitars are less prone to changes due to humidity...buy it will effect them.
