Chet & the Gretsch Del Vecchio clone
Here's a picture I've never seen before, Chet actually playing the Gretsch Del Vecchio clone. It would be neat if Gretsch actually did make this. My guess is that it never had the sound of the Del Vecchio maybe that's why it never took off.

Not looking for a fight but I don't see 'gretsch' anywhere on that thing or in the text
I'd put money that it is a borrowed Paul McGill or other lutheir's sample loaned out for the photo shoot

Re: Chet & the Gretsch Del Vecchio clone
Norm. it looks exactly like the prototype Gretsch resonator guitar on page 129 in MMAG sitting on the stairsteps above his favourite genuine DelVeccio and the one given to him by Doyle Dykes. It´s easily discernable by the "edgy" florentine cutaway that the others doesn´t have - so it´s really not a clone, taken literally, either.

Re: Chet & the Gretsch Del Vecchio clone
I was like Norm and missed that Gretsch had made a prototype resonator, even though I have read the MAMG book. There is so brief a mention of it, I guess I just didn't remember it. Chet did say on pg. 130 that "it didn't sound that good."

I wrote "...that the others doesn´t have", meaning "don´t have". Sorry to have upset you all! Bill, I sometimes I feel my brain is filled with glue so everything tend to stick up there. A condition also called good memory!

Wow
The amazon records keeper tells me I bought mine in 2003 for 21.00
I have the deluxe hardcover too, still in its original shipping carton. Read through it once then waited patiently for the release of the paperback.
I remember asking myself if I was really wise spending that much fora book. I think it was 180.00 or something
