I'm with you, Bill. The only thing that gives anything value is how much people want it.
I didn't buy this but, it wasn't the price tag that deterred me. It was the inflated shipping costs - about five times what I normally pay to have a guitar shipped to Canada from the U.S.A. I didn't bid as matter of principle out of how the way this handled.
Not that the seller cares. He got a good price.

Re: Baldwin 801 CP Relisted On Ebay
I wouldn't be surprised if we see it relisted again.

Re: Baldwin 801 CP Relisted On Ebay
Bill Park hit it on the nose. Supply and Demand rules the day again...even in tough times. And there were two people with deep pockets (the seller hopes). I cannot recall the last time I saw one up for sale.
Does anyone have any idea as to the production #'s for the 801CP? From what I understand it was the last production model from Baldwin's failed foray into the guitar business. Was the Pristmatone produced specifically for this guitar? If so, that might give a clue to the production #'s.
I found an interesting (hopefully accurate) write up on the History of Baldwin guitars, which probably has been posted here before:
