I'm with you, Bill. The only thing that gives anything value is how much people want it.

I didn't buy this but, it wasn't the price tag that deterred me. It was the inflated shipping costs - about five times what I normally pay to have a guitar shipped to Canada from the U.S.A. I didn't bid as matter of principle out of how the way this handled.

Not that the seller cares. He got a good price.

Bill Park hit it on the nose. Supply and Demand rules the day again...even in tough times. And there were two people with deep pockets (the seller hopes). I cannot recall the last time I saw one up for sale.

Does anyone have any idea as to the production #'s for the 801CP? From what I understand it was the last production model from Baldwin's failed foray into the guitar business. Was the Pristmatone produced specifically for this guitar? If so, that might give a clue to the production #'s.

I found an interesting (hopefully accurate) write up on the History of Baldwin guitars, which probably has been posted here before:
