Great song and performance. One the first recordings of the song was made by Jim Reeves in the very late 1950´s.

Actually Eddy Arnold got first shot at that song and apparently it did well and was deemed a "hit"

Never could get anyone to describe what a "hit" was in either country or rock. Probably something to do with a song''s ranking on Billboard's charting system
