Postby smokymtguitar09 » Tue Feb 23, 2016 9:45 am

Sonny James ("Young Love"),The Southern Gentleman, has died in Nashville at age 87. He was propelled to the forefront of popular music in 1957 with his hit single of "Young Love". In addition to his distinctive vocal style he was an accomplished acoustic guitarist and fiddle player. In his early career he and Chet Atkins were roommates on the road when they did a radio show in Raleigh, NC. In 1975 he did an instrumental record on Columbia that included his arrangement of "Apache".

I always liked Sonny James voice. Young Love was a big hit when I was in high school. I never got to see him in concert. Here is a link to his obit. It mentions Chet a couple of times.
