FYI,

As some of you know, the 3rd Saturday in April is "Record Store Day". Record Store Day is an annual event, founded in 2007, held on the third Saturday of April each year to to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store. (that was straight from Wikipedia)

Anyway, every year there are a number of special releases on vinyl....made only available through a record store.

While looking through the releases, I saw this:

http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/7687

Rare as hens teeth in original issue....but now it can be had for those willing to find a store that will carry it....and maybe stand in line.

Anyway, have fun!

I have an album titled "Chet Atkins The Guitar Genius" which has many of these same tunes. Perhaps that particular issue was cancelled, but another album WAS released as The Guitar Genius featuring Jim Atkins on vocals.. It is on the Camden label and was released in 1963.

Side 1 has Heartbreak Hotel/Swanee River/Blackjack/I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time/Daar's 'n Wind Wat Waai.

Side 2 has It's Now or Never/Out of Nowhere/Hidden Charm/Even Tho'/When Day Is Done.

Zing Went the Strings of My Heart, Country Style, Asleep in the Deep, I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, My Funny Valentine, and I Know That You Know were not on the Guitar Genius album. I have the CAL-753 RE issue - Mono, since I did not have a stereo player at the time I bought this one. The A&R Director is listed as Ethel Gabriel.

Thanks for the heads up George!
I couldn't find any of the record stores in my area that ordered it, but I did find online a place that will fill my order if the still have any copies left tomorrow. I also found out that this LP is limited to 2000 copies.

I've heard this record sounds amazing. Some people who aren't familiar with Chet are just buying it for the recording quality.
