Hi Charlie,

Don't believe it was ever on an album. I think it was released only on a 45.

Regards,

Here's a list of albums that is on the Mister Guitar site. If you click on the links for an album, the songs on that album will be listed. I have Rhythm Guitar on a 45, but I can't remember if it's on one of my albums or not.

I've heard the "signature lick" from that song in several others such as "Me and My Guitar" on the album by the same name but I agree that "Rhythm Guitar" has only been recorded on a 45.

This tune is available only on a 45 in US.
You can find it on the 2LP Guitar Pickin' Man from UK (Cambra CR062 released in 1983).
Never released on CD.

Just spotted this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MISTER-GUITAR-5 ... 3ce7f0e54c

Not sure if you were looking for the tab, but it's not one I've ever seen anywhere else.

The transcription in Mister Guitar is basically the same as mine in AGW Vol 11 No 1 (available from my website). Mark and I "consulted" on the version in Mister Guitar.

The original recording was on the flip side of From Nashville With Love, from 1966. It's credited to Chet, but it's a Jerry Reed compostion. Chet "recycled" the lick in several tunes, including Huntin' Boots, I Saw the Light (duet version with Hank Snow), and Me and My Guitar. Odell Martin did a great quote from the tune in his version of Nine Pound Hammer, from the Grammer Guitar promo LP.

You can order the AGW back issue here:

Craig

P.S. I did a workshop on the tune at CAAS several years ago, and hardly anyone showed up. Later, a guy heard me playing the tune at our table, rushed over, and said, "What is that? I've always wanted to learn that tune!" I told him it was Rhythm Guitar, and that I did a workshop on it a couple of hours before. He said, "Oh no! I thought the workshop was on rhythm guitar, and I can already strum!"
