Progress report on The Book/Photo shoutout

Postby Norm » Mon Oct 07, 2013 10:34 am

Boy, Howdy there's more to "writing a book" than just writing the book. There is a lot of p's and q's that need attending and today I want to talk photos.

On Paul’s website there are some photos I’d like to consider for my book. To use any photo I have to get “used by permission” privledge which means a signed release from whoever owns the photo.

Check these out and let me know if you know who owns these. Note: the “studio 9” is the web manager. I’ve already contacted him and need to do a shoutout here

Paul and Chet

Paul and Chet 1979 http://www.studio9kc.co.uk/paul/paul%20 ... o%201.html

Paul and Jerry Reed

Paul with the Louvin Brothers

I’d be interested in any shots some of you might have of Paul and Chet or Paul and Jerry Reed playing together.

Let’s talk… PM me if you have something...

Norm,

Here is a link to some photos I took of Paul playing with Steve Wariner at the 2010 CAAS convention. Besides Paul and Steve, you can see John Knowles, Craig Dobbins, Guy Van Duser, Phil, Tommy Flint, Bob Sexton, and Marie and Micah watching in the background...

If you find anything you like, feel free to use it.

Thanks, George...

What I'm wanting/needing is Paul and Chet or Paul and Jerry back in the day when they were Working It. Sorry to be fussy but it is to illustrate Paul (and by association, Chet and Jerry's) life.

Worth a 'shot" :)

Here's the problem...

Pictures are like songs. The are protected by copyright. Those pictures (and many others so easily findable online) generally lack information as to who actually owns the photo and to go ahead and use it without permission can be construed as a violation of copyright.

That's why you see "used by permission" or "courtesy of" under so many photos or in the "Photo Credits" sections. Those words mean that written permission has been granted for the photos to be reproduced in a book or magazine. That's what the shout-out is about.

I'm still hopeful.

Norm most of what I have is from the 90s. Which is when I was going to the convention and Chet was there.
The rest are from after I got to know Paul! So none are from the period of the 70s when they were most active!

OK. Thanks, Eddie. I still might ask you for your "pick of the litter" though...top three, something like that
