Some big changes

Hi Guys-
Well, some news that could be big. I'm being flown to Amsterdam this Saturday for an interview on Monday! If I get the job and accept, the company will relocate my family. It's a web designer position.

Since I'll have all day Sunday to explore, I plan to find a music store and do some playing. Then, I can pretend that I was flown over for a gig and have to get back to the states for another show…Walter Mitty has nothing on me!

Anyway, I plan to bring some Chet/Jerry fingerpicking along with me to spread around as best as possible!

Is there anyone on this board or in CAAS that anyone knows in the Netherlands?

Kelly,

Can't say I have any exposure to the Netherlands but certainly wish you the best in what sounds like an exciting opportunity. All of us have Walter Mitty moments, at least I know I do. Sometimes day dreaming gives us our best ideas.

Regards,
Tom

Kelly,

Edwin Schenk hosts a huge Jerry Reed tribute page in the Netherlands:
http://www.jerryreed.nl/

Also Wim den Herder, a notable guitarist himself, regularly hosts fingerstyle guitar concerts in Amsterdam with great players:
http://www.guitaracademy.nl/

There are a lot of Fingerstyle fans in the Netherlands, namely Chet/Jerry fans, and numerous pickers you know from the States performed there in various places and on numerous occasions, such as Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Buster B. Jones, Thom Bresh and others.

Safe travels -

Ingo

Hi Kelly,

I live in the Netherlands, in the north part. Yesterday I was in Amsterdam to visit the renovated Rijksmuseum, beautiful. When I was in Amsterdam, I stumbled upon a small music store but that was nothing special, they didn't have much guitars in store. There is a really nice store with vintage guitars called "The Fellowship of the Acoustics", but it isn't in Amsterdam. They have all kinds of vintage guitars and they're known throughout the world. A good thing about the Netherlands is that everything is (fairly) close. From the north to the south is only a 3.5 hours drive.

Like Ingo said, fingerstyle is pretty 'hot' here in the Netherlands, there are all kinds of youngsters who keep it alive. I know Edwin Schenk personally, the guy behind www.jerryreed.nl. He is a real nice guy to boot!

Please do not hesitate asking questions if I can help you out with something.

Good luck with the interview!

Hendrik
