Fred Managed Chet for a long time before them parting ways a few years before Chet died.

Fred was a dear friend and a great businessman. He had formerly managed Earl Klugh and Chet hired him when he left Earl. Fred's management allowed Chet to sell more records that he had ever done before by broadening his audience. Fred Produced that Cinemax concert and was very helpful in helping Chet select songs for recording. I was present many times when Chet would think Fred for what he had done for his career. The Mark Knoffler album was Fred's idea and was Chet's largest selling album by far.

There has been some misinformation about Fred posted on this site. None of it is true. Fred was an honorable man and his split with Chet was unfortunate. What happened does no good to resurrect.

Fred started by managing classmate Harry Chapin, who died in an automobile accident.

Fred was 70 years old and passed away at his home. There is a memorial service at Studio B on Monday July 15, 2013 on music row in Nashville.
