Doc Watson's "Tennessee Stud"

Doc Watson was one of my heroes who I had the pleasure of meeting backstage several times. My greatest memory was when Doc played my Gallagher custom Doc Watson guitar backstage. He revealed to me that he was a Chet Atkins fan, and was surprised when Chet sent word that he wanted to record with him. The result was their RCA "Reflections" LP, and Doc was pleased that it was reissued as a CD. He also told me he wanted to visit Chet's grave, and I don't know if he got the opportunity or not.

Doc's musical talent was extraordinary with a combination of flat and thumbpicking on guitar, rich vocals, and folksy humor. On stage he had amazing timing as demonstrated in his performance of one his most requested songs "Tennessee Stud". Watch and listen how he could hold an audience spellbound with his multiple talent thrown into the song at just the right moment. Jack Lawrence of Charlotte is backing him on guitar.
