CNN is reporting that Doc Watson has passed away. I'm sure everyone on this board loved him. I sure did.

I saw him about 2 years ago in concert.

Doc knew where he was going after this life.
We can take comfort in that.
Never met him but he really seemed like a nice guy!

Sad news.
I discovered Doc in year 1982 and i had the chance to see and hear him and his son Merle playing 3 years later in Strasbourg in the North East of France. That was a revelation. I have all Doc's records at home, sure i will now listen to him through a different mind. RIP Doc !

CNN just did another five minute documentary on Doc Watson today, with Ricky Skaggs talking on the phone from Nashville. Very well put together!

Ricky said that a lot of people were unaware that Doc had wired his house, shortly after moving into it some years ago. He said when the electrical inspectors checked it out, it was all "up to code", and was done perfectly! Now THAT is is what you call an ingenious mind! :)

I own many videos with Doc, his son Merle with other great musicians. In one of them Doc is shown climbing up on his roof repairing a window, as well as making a new tool box, treating hammer and nails with great proficiency. He didn´t seem to fear for his fingers and hands. He was quite a character. My first album with Doc was Strictly Instrumental with Lester, Earl and the Foggy Mountain Boys. I bought it in 1968. He and Chet are my greatest guitar heros.
