Let's not forget that if it wasn't for Paul....we probably wouldn't have Chet's name back on the Gretschs', there wouldn't be a Nashville Classic (Country Gent), there wouldn't be a 6120 solid top CGP, and many many scores of other things that Paul did for us pickers. And most of all let's not forget the music. I've been playing all of his cd's this morning and it makes me cry to listen to them. What a man.....what a talent. We will miss you Paul!

A very special moment for me was getting a special old picture of Chet framed and matted for Paul and presenting it to him about 2 years ago. Paul was very moved and got teary eyed and absolutely loved it. He was a very giving, generous person and these last couple of years he took the time to get to know Eddie and I and it was very nice to get to know Marie and Micah and Sherie. I will miss sitting at his table next to Craigs at CAAS and picking and talking with him.

I have dreaded this news. Paul was so kind to me in a few emails where I asked questions he'd answered before many times I know. But he took the time to answer them for me. His work to bring about the new Chet Gretsch reissue guitars meant that it was possible to have those treasured connections to Chet and to Paul. His music both with Chet and his own CDs was as good as it gets. I will always remember Paul for helping us through the years after Chet passed by just being here for us on the Chetboard. it meant so much to read his comments. I learned much more about Chet from Paul.

My thoughts will be with his family. I never met Paul but I felt a friendship to him - just like with Chet. They are so precious to me.

I am very saddened to learn about this. Knowing it was eminent as it is for all of us, did little to soften the impact of the announcement. My heart goes out to Paul's family and I know that all of us on the Chetboard will miss him, his humor, and many contributions to our collective knowledge about Chet, guitars, and performance. I will continue to treasure my 2004 Nashville Classic, the Fingerstyle Legacy teaching video, and the many other videos in existence of Paul with the Louvins, Kittly Wells, Jerry, and Chet. I am gladdened only by the knowledge that Paul's physical suffering is gone now, and that he is in a place of rest and joy.

Paul Yandell, C.G.P. The last of the great ones of his generation. I hope he, Merle, Chet and Jerry are all up there pickin' together in heaven. I never got to hear him play in person or meet him but, I know he was a class act in all aspects. I will think of him every time I pick up my Nashville Classic. My prayers go out to his family. -Tom W.
