Does anyone know which Jerry Reed compositions were played by Chet and which recordings they can be found on?

Raymond -

The LP "Chet Atkins Picks On Jerry Reed" (1974) was an entire collection of Reed compositions recorded by Chet.

There were many others, too - "Early Times", "The Claw", "Twichy", and "Struttin" come to mind.

Here is what I have in my database base so far concerning songs composed (or co-composed), by Jerry Reed, and recorded by Chet. I have included the album info in this post and sorted them alphabetically by album title.

NOTE: My Chet Songography is in development and should be considered incomplete and there are likely errors. Corrections welcomed.

Jerry also did some arrangements from other composers, and gave them to Chet. "Yakety Axe" and "Summertime" come to mind.

I always wondered if "Knee Action" was composed by Jerry even though it lists Jerry Hughs as composer. Maybe it's an alias???

Phil-

I love that tune! Jerry Hughes is (was?) a fingerpicker from Ireland. He wrote Knee Action and sent it to Chet in the early '70's. I've had some correspondence with him, and he sent me some more tunes he had written. The last I heard from him (several years ago), he had been struggling with cancer.

If anyone has heard from him, please let me know.

I really like listening to all the mid-'60's Chet records where you can plainly hear Jerry on gut string in the background. A few are What Now My Love and na chitarra... from It's a Guitar World and most of the tunes from the Camden LP Chet. Jerry's really grooving on Truck Drivers' Blues.

Thanks, everyone, who replied to my question. It was a great help and got me working on Down Home, a tune I had learned in my teens ( along time ago). I had forgotten the name and never had the album.
