This guitar was built on April 6, 1973 for Clint Elmo Reed. Obituary newspaper clipping is in the case pocket. Here's a link to the original owners obituary:

Here's a couple of photos of the original owner with the guitar:

It has had a couple of cracks repaired on the back. The back and sides were refinished at some point. Currently one of the cracks needs repair, the guitar has a rattle when it is played. I'm pretty sure it is the crack causing that, although it could possibly be a loose back brace. It has a hardshell case that is a little too long for the body, maybe an inch or so.

I tried to get the details in the photos. The top has lacquer checking all over. It was previously repaired by someone, & as you can see there is an amount of hide glue inside for the repair. The crack has opened and lengthened some since the original repair. A good guitar luthier should be able to repair it right. Also There's a strange thing in the first fret position, as you can see in the photo. It seems there was a fret slot cut in the wrong spot & filled with a rosewood strip.

MAKE ME AN OFFER! Here's what the "Blue Book of Guitar Values" says:

"HASCAL HAILE
Instruments previously produced in Tompkinsville, KY between the late 1960s and 1986.
Luthier Hascal Haile built mostly classical guitars in his Kentucky home basement shop between the late 1960s and the time of his death in 1986. Haile was a furniture maker for much of his life, but he had always been a musician and decided to build instruments full-time beginning in the late 1960s. Haile built guitars for many artists including Waylon Jennings, Roy Clark, and Bobby Goldsboro, but his most famous customer was Chet Atkins. Haile actually built Atkins' prototype for the now-famous Gibson solidbody classical guitar. Haile was still building instruments when he passed away in 1986. Haile's classicals are quite valuable today often bringing over $5,000."

I may be open to offers or trades.
