Polar Vortex effecting Cajuns?

Postby DagerRande » Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:26 pm

This is for my Jerry Reed fans, who aren't part of my FaceBook group:

We are in for a nearly 70 degree swing, from -18 F. this morning to 50 F. or so on Monday! Now I’m really hoping that this Polar Vortex doesn’t reach the Cajuns in the Louisiana Bayou because I would be worrying about whether or not “Everything was Okey Dokey in the Okefenokee”!

That album brings back great memories!

I had it in vinyl, many moons ago.

All my vinyl albums are now gone. (Both Chet and Jerry, as well as "Chet and Jerry" and "Jerry and Chet." I sure miss them.

But I must admit, my CD's save a few cubic feet of space, that I don't really have.

Doug, even CD's are now considered to be "old school". The current thing these days is to have no physical medium and everything is streamed. I've not checked whether or not our favorites are available on Amazon Prime Music or Apple, but there are millions of songs available and they don't take up any space! I have my doubts about my favorites.

Steve, I only got it on cassette tape when it first came out but you picked one of my favorites when it comes to recording quality! I also loved the arrangements and some of those originals! I never knew that it had been available on CD?

Work It Out With Chet Atkins was released only on cassette tape and vinyl. Note that songs 3 and 9 (walking medley and twilight medley) appear only on the tape and not the vinyl (lack of space?).
This album was never released on CD and to my knowledge is not available either as an MP3 download.
Best regards, Jean-Luc

Thanks Rande and Jean-Luc. I've got it on cassette but it's hard to find cassette players these days (or cars with cassette players.)

Steve, you might have to digitize your cassette and burn it onto CD. I've done that a few times. It can even be processed and cleaned up with a free program such as Audacity, before burning.

Thanks Rande - how do you go about digitizing a cassette?

Steve, there is a fairly inexpensive little cassette player that has a cable that plugs directly into the USB port on your computer. You can get it on Amazon. It also comes with software that you install and run while the cassette is being played and sends the analog signal into the computer, which it converts into a digital signal. When it is finished, you have a digital file on your computer. This can also be "cleaned up" if necessary with a program like Audacity, which is free!
