Acknowledging Jerry today
Posted: Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:41 pmI've been waiting to see if anyone would beat me to this, and I've seen a post mentioning Jerry today, but as far as I've seen nobody mentioned the fact that today is his birthday. I was fortunate enough to have seen him in a number of concerts over the years, beginning in the 70's. After one of his concerts in Hagerstown, MD in the mid 90's, I also remember asking him if he was going to attend CAAS that summer and his response was "Are you kidding? ....and make a fool of myself in front of all those guitar pickers?" He never really understood his true place in the guitar world. He would have been 74 today.
I never had the chance to see him live but I love watching the video clips on youtube. Thanks to the Chetboard folks for keeping his music alive and talkin' about him.
