My '67 COUNTRY GENT FOR SALE!

Postby DagerRande » Fri Jul 06, 2018 8:48 am

I would like to sell my 1967 Gretsch Country Gentleman. I got it used in early 1969 just before I went into the Army. It was 18 months old and someone helped me to figure out that it was made in Nov.’67

Since then I’ve had the tuning keys replaced and the T.V. Jones pickups installed, as well as having it refretted 4 years ago. I also bought a new $200 Gretsch hard shell case 2 years ago that will come with it.

I have no expectations of getting back what I put into it but I’m asking $1,500.

If anyone is interested and going to CAAS next week, I’ll have it with me.

I can sure tell. (That you've treated her with love) it's a beaut. Bet she sounds really, really perty, right?

Chet would surely be proud.

I think it's a sign of our respect for Mr Guitar when we do the instruments with his name on it that way. They deserve nothing less. Any instrument with Chet's name on it is SPECIAL.

Chet and Jerry's cut of "Gibson Girl" comes to mind.

I only have one guitar with Chet's name on it. It's actually the only guitar I own right now. But I sure love it. Fell in love with that guitar from the moment I saw it on display at the music store.

I try to take really, REAlLY good care of it. Polish it up all the time. Try to keep the strings fresh...

Doug, I've seen Gretsch CG's of around this vintage on EBay for twice as much or more. I believe that I correctly
anticipated that most Chet and Gretsch fans are "purists" and this isn't the original guitar that it once was. I don't have the collector mentality. I want the guitar to play and sound as great as possible. I've accomplished both with having it refretted and having the T.V. Jones pickups installed. It plays and sounds better than it ever did during most of those many years that I've owned it. But if one is a collector then originality is the top priority.
