Re: Any Chet Left Hand Stretches You Just Can't Nail?
Doug, for maximal listening enjoyment the secret (in my estimation) to playing "Waltz for the Lonely" is to pay attention to the descending bass lines as well as using the proper inversions of those chords. It brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it, not to mention the second, third, etc.

7 - 3 - 0?
Doug, this is the "stretch" I was talking about: (if you read tab)
-------------------------------------------------0-----
-----------------------------------0-------3-----------
---------------------0--------3-------5------------------
---------0-------3-------7-----------------------
-----3-------7--------------------------------
--7----------------------------------------------------
Can't do them.. Never could... Never will

Don't have my guitar with me as I am away from my house, and I'd like to actually finger it, but just from looking at it, trying to visualize it on the fingerboard, well, doggone it, it looks pretty gnarly. (Piece of cake, though, for Mr Guitar!)
Maybe I better not!
I see those open strings in there, and I know Chet used that all the time to great effect. I once learned "My Little Waltz", and those open strings inserted in the middle of some runs just sound so darn perty.

Yeah, it sure is one pretty tune.
What is that part during the bridge where Chet does a kind of "tremolo type" effect? Anybody figure that out? It sounds real nice.

Chet does these runs a lot on his first recording of Cattle Call (not the Standard Brands version), both ascending and descending. Chet called them chromatic arpeggios. I could never handle them either, but then, I'm only 5-9 so I think I need to be over 6 foot to have hands big enough. I got round it by going further up the fingerboard playing the same open notes, but using a few hammer-ons on ascending runs and pull-offs on the descending ones, and cross picking a few notes as well. It's not quite Chet, but it works for me.
Regards
Mike

Doug, sorry for the delay in responding to your question about the Parker Nylon Fly. I don't get here too often. IF the Nylon Fly is still made, it is only on a custom basis. Here are some links:
