Pat Metheny's "Cherish" solo

I love this song (I graduated from high school in 1966 when it came out). Metheny's instrumental version of this tune always takes my breath away. I don't know if Chet did this one or not. Of course Metheny is using a baritone guitar with special stringing and tuning I believe.

Rich, I graduated a year after you did and I definitely remember "Cherish" being popular. His tone with the acoustic steel string is nice but I think I would do it on a nice mellow electric with a warm jazz tone. Alternate harmonies also come to mind.

I've been listening to a lot of Pat's solo stuff lately. He's an amazing guitarist. Love his version of "And I Love Her". John Lennon called that song McCartney's first "Yesterday". I play it, but in a different key to Pat and I can't work out what he's doing. The piece I really like though is "Medley" from the Lagano concert. It has been transcribed on uTube. I find it quite a haunting series of tunes. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgcafIqycIY
