question for Paul about the prototype CGP/'red' gretsch

It has been written and posted a few times about how around the time Chet did the Dave Garroway show that he had the neck replaced on the sealed top 6120 that had the original Ray Butts pickups on it. Did Chet ever mention how that neck came to get broken?

I think I remember him saying it got broken on the plane going to NY, thanks paul
