Paul Craft passes away

Postby conecaster » Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:51 am

I just learned this morning that Paul has left us.

Paul claimed he and Steve Warner where the last two artists Chet ever signed to RCA.

Paul's song writing career was significant and he had many great tales of artists including Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis.

I learned recently, from a client who knew Paul in the early 60's when they where in school at Baldwin college in Staunton Va, about his influences. He filled me in on the campus environment and a man named Fletcher Collins who was involved heavily in the 60's folk scene.

I remember first seeing Paul right after I moved to Nashville in 1985. He would come up to the repair shop when I worked at Gruhn's and go through the guitars on the rack. He was wearing a bright Hawaiian shirt.

I was aware Paul suffered much pain, even though he was an active tennis player years ago.

So another of Chet's inner circle of people has passed on.
