Liona Boyd
I don't read Guitar Player magazine anymore, but occasionally glance through it at the magazine stand. The issue on the newsstands now has an article on Liona Boyd. Perhaps this is old news to some (or maybe most) but it seems she had developed a focal dystonia in her right hand requiring that she give up playing for some time. More recently she has begun to play with a pick and has done some songwriting and singing, too. Interesting article. She mentions that after Chet had his stroke he told her that "life just isn't worth living when you no longer can play the guitar" and she found that heartbreaking. Fortunately, she has found a new approach to keep on playing and perhaps will one day return to fingerstyle guitar if her right hand improves or she can develop some new technique.
