Mainstreet Breakdown notated incorrectly

Postby Tom Keller » Sat Oct 30, 2010 10:17 am

Some weeks ago, I asked if anyone might have tab or an arrangement of the first few bars of Mainstreet Breakdown. It was recommended that I pickup Chet In Three Dimensions. To make a long story short I did only to find out that the few measures I actually needed do not correspond to the way Chet played those measures. I guess the lesson is all transcriptions are not created equally.

The book was a Melbay Chet In Three Dimensions Vol.1 McClellan and Bratic. I just wonder do the people who so quickly recommend some of these books do it based on having played through the tunes or are there other reasons?

I've never seen anything that John and Deyan has done that hasn't been spot on perfect IMHO!
