When I was in the USAF and stationed in Anchorage, AK. I met a younger guitarist, probably in his early teens who played Chet Atkins style. I was very impressed. This was around 1970 or so. I was wondering if he visits this site these days. I don't remember his name but he played really well for his age. Probably better than me even though I was around 20 at the time. If you visit this site please respond and tell me how your guitar playing career went and is going.

My son was in the USAF at Anchorage till around 1999 I think.
He met a guy there that was a barber on base that either retired there or got out and stayed there and worked as a barber there. He later retired and moved back to Northern Nevada.

He was a good Chet Style Player and around 2001 he flew out to Ohio and went to Caas with us.

His first name was Bob, but I can't remember his last name. I will get it later and post it.

Very nice guy. Pete

I believe the one you are thinking of is Bob Hilburn, who did live close to Reno, NV.
then moved to Rapid City, SD. 4 or 5 years ago. He is a great Chet style player.

Yep, that's the one. He bought a guitar from Ray Cummins and I took him down to meet Ray and pick up the guitar.

I'll pass the info on to my son. He probably already knows Bob moved.
