Nice "Chet Story"

Postby Greg Butler » Thu Nov 22, 2012 11:50 am

A few days ago, a pastor friend of mine conducted the funeral service of one of his church members...a blind man whom the pastor knew played guitar, keyboard, etc. In visiting w/ the widow, she related to the pastor a story from her husband's life that he'd shared with her. As a young boy, his mother had taken him to a Chet Atkins concert and managed to get backstage to meet Chet. Learning that the boy was blind and that he'd been trying to work out one of Chet's guitar arrangements, Chet took time to go over how he did one particular part of the arrangement that the young boy had not been able to figure out. The widow told my pastor friend that something her husband relished later in life was that as a boy, he'd had a personal guitar lesson from "Mr. Guitar."

That's cool, and not suprising at all from what I've read about Chet. He was a great man and an inspiration for us all!
