Chet On Red Skelton ( Or Not? )
I think I have someone trying to dupe me into believing he knew Paul Yandell c.g.p. This fellow claims Chet appeared on the Red Skelton show numerous times with Paul. Even if Chet did appear on Red Skelton I would think Paul was still with the Louvin Brothers when Red Skelton was on the air. Can anyone help?

Hi Bill-
Sorry to say I think you're being duped. I just researched & wrote an extensive series of articles on Chet's TV appearances for "Mister Guitar" and as far as I can tell, Chet never appeared on the Red Skelton Show. You are correct: Red's show went off the air in 1971 & Paul didn't team up w/ Chet until 1975. However, I DO remember someone on eBay selling a ticket stub from a Chet/Red concert appearance in the 1980s. Perhaps this person knew Paul that way. Hope this info helps.
Thanks,
John C.

I've never seen any mention by Paul about Red Skelton in my archive.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your input. Looking forward to reading your article in an upcoming issue of Mr. Guitar, John.
Norm, archiving Paul's posts here on the board was a very far-sighted undertaking if I may say so. I'm looking forward to the finished product, whether it ends up being a book or whatever form it manifests itself in.

Craig Dobbins had a good stash of those quotes also.
He got some that I'd missed.
All that kind of thing helps the final product

Paul quotes.....
One of my favorite quotes from Paul came in a thread about Jerry Reed. Somebody said that Jerry needs to write some new songs. Paul replied "Jerry has written quite a few new tunes in the last few years but he's not on a label anymore so he hasn't recorded them, complaing about Jerry not writting any new tunes is sort of like complainig because Dr. Salk didn't find more cures after Polio, thanks Paul"
that made me laugh....
