11 Years Ago Today

Although I saw a post recently mentioning that today would be the 11th anniversary of Chet's passing, I didn't actually see any today. I'll never forget that I learned of this via phone calls from two non-guitarist friends of mine who heard about it first. One was in Washington and the other in Nashville. My Nashville friend attended the service and described it to me.

It had more of an impact on me than the loss of some of my relatives. I felt that I sort of "grew up" with Chet and I spent many hours up in my bedroom listening to his records and trying to pick up what I could from 33-1/3 rpm vinyl records being slowed down to 16/2/3 rpm and of course dropped an octave in the process. Others my age were living more "normal" teenage lives.....lol.

I also wanted to point out that 2001 was NOT a leap year but June 30 was on a Saturday. This year IS a leap year and
June 30 is still on a Saturday. Intriguing but not too mathematically mysterious........lol.
