I finally found a guy to modify my old Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II into an Octabass. As soon as I get back to Texas I'll plug her into my system and see how she sounds. It sounded great plugged into an amp in the guy's shop.
As soon as I get back to my home PC, I'll also post a pic or two. Without looking close, you wouldn't be able to tell it's an Octabass.
Re: Octabass...Finally!!
Oh cool! I contemplated attempting an octobass conversion in the past but could never convince myself to go ahead.
what all did you have done to it, if I may ask?

Re: Octabass...Finally!!
The guy had to drill out bigger holes in the tailpiece where the strings go through, carve out a little bigger niches in the wooden bridge and nut, and drill out the string posts so the bass strings would fit through. As soon as I get home off vacation and figure out how to do it, I'll post some pics. But from just a casual glance, you would never know it was an octabass (unless you looked closely at the E & A bass strings).
