Chet's humor

Postby rhirvine » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:40 pm

When I listened to Chet's album with Mark Knofler I was especially impressed by the song "There'll be a Change in the weather...". When Mark Knofler said "and you're kind of old" Chet said "That Hurts". I know that it was all in jest but I've been using that line ever since when I bump my head or something dumb like that. In the past I would get angry and lash out, but now I just say "That hurts" and my anger goes away. I think Chet was a great teacher in more ways than just music!

Sincerely,
Rich Irvine

Hi Rich, I also often use one of Chet's funny lines. I believe he was talking with Ralph Emery and at one point said..."that's my opinion and it should be yours". I always preface it by saying "As Chet Atkins would say..." Roger

I loved his jokes. I saw him in concert twice, once in 1977, then again in 1990. Many of the jokes from 1977 were repeated in 1990 and I enjoyed them just as much the second time around.
