Blue Angel picking pattern

Postby AngusH » Thu Jan 26, 2012 11:55 am

Thanks again to those who sent me a variety of tabs for Blue Angel - they're great and have helped me make a (tentative) start. However none give any indication of the right hand picking pattern.

There's a great Youtube clip of Chet playing it in 1969 - it has to be about the most breathtakingly laid back bit of picking I think I've ever seen:

It looks to me like he's simply alternating between thumb and index finger pretty much throughout. In as much as anything is straightforward about this one, that works fine for the single string lines, but does the same apply for the descending lines in the first part and elsewhere - ie thumb on the beats and index/middle on the off beats?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Angus
