Does anyone know who the dobro player was on Chets, Guitar Country album?
Thanks
Re: Nine Pound Hammer Question
For some reason Hal Rugg comes to mind. It was definitely a steel player doubling on Dobro as opposed to a guy (Like Uncle Josh) who used Dobro as his main instrument

Re: Nine Pound Hammer Question
Norm was very close. According to the RCA session sheets, it was Harold Morrison.

Re: Nine Pound Hammer Question
Nah... close ain't the word.
I looked up Harold Morrison and found he'd been around. Banjo player, guitar player, steel player... didn't see any YouTube of him playing Dobro but he obviously was able to do so.
He's in the bluegrass hall of fame apparently.
The only thing I got right was that Dobro wasn't his prime instrument. But back then there were very few people known primarily as Dobro players. Josh and Oswald were just about all there was I think. Jerry Douglas was just a kid playing local bluegrass gathers Mike Auldridge would be coming down the pike soon.

Re: Nine Pound Hammer Question
Lloyd Greene is another steel player who doubled on Dobro. He played on many of Don Williams´ recordings.

Thanks John, I would never have guessed Harold Morrison, when I saw him in the 60's he was on the Wilburn brothers tv show as a comedian and banjo player.
Thanks again
