Merle Travis on Chet...

In the pamphlet that accompanied the DVD “Legends Of Country Guitar” there is an interesting (and eloquent) quote from Merle Travis I thought was good enough to copy and share.
_______________________

In speaking about Chet Atkins, Merle Travis once told journalist Mark Humphrey, “I don’t ever think there will ever be a chance for any other guitar player to be as great as Chet. He was born at a time when turn-of-the-century music, the songs of the 1920’s and the big bands were still around and not laughed at. He knows it all, from that music to commercial music to what was recorded this afternoon in Nashville. He is the greatest guitar player that ever lived in my opinion. I don’t think there will ever be anyone greater.”

______________

I agree...

Thanks Norm! That was a great quote from Merle. I'd say Merle hit the nail right on the head. This world sure was fortunate to have Chet Atkins in it!
