Fender with Filtertrons

Has anyone fitted Filtertrons to a Fender? Do you like the results? I own a Fender Thinline with Seth Lover pickups and would like to swap them out for a more Gretsch-like sound.

This picker has a Fender like guitar with FilterTrons on it and he gets a great sound...a Chet like sound with them. I am sure it has to do mostly with his hands and his touch. There are several videos of his playing with this guitar. He does a great job and the guitar sounds great.

Thanks, Ray

I think this is Jean Francois. Will somebody verify please.
Now I have to find some 'good' Filtertrons on the net. Any ideas?
Is he using 'Band in a Box' for rythm ?

p.s. sorry to sound so helpless but I want "Good" pickups.

Thanks, Alan

My hearing is not the best...I can't tell if it is BIAB or not that he is using for backup. It didn't sound like the BIAB backups I have made, but mine is an OOOOLD version. I am not familiar with any of the Filtertron pickups out there, but a lot of the Gretsch models have the TV Jones pickups as standard.

You are correct amdyk, it Is Jean-François Cyr. clicking on his name link at the upper left of the youtube brings up his profile

I believe he built the guitar himself using parts available in pre-fab on the internet. I don't know if those are TV Jones pickups but if they are they aren't the specialized ones as in the 6122-59

Go here

http://tvjones.com/

You can call Tom and tell him what you want and he will steer you to what best suits you. You'll be paying for them but he makes an impeccable product.

Yes guys it is my Guitar

http://www.warmoth.com/Gallery/GalleryEntry.aspx?id=355

I had this guitar done a few years ago and I had it fit TV-Jones classic filtertron on it and
it sound really good but I don't know how would it sound on a standard Telecaster
because my main body is made with mahogany, the sound of that wood have more
natural base tone compare to the standard telecaster.

What I can tell about the TV-Jones Classic Pickups is that they don't alter the sound
of the guitar and let the rest do the job (amps, effects etc..)
so if your guitar sound great unplug it will surely do the job!

Take care

Thanks as always lads. The Chetboard is great for exchanging ideas and tabs and giving leads that save time.
I have this nice Thinline sitting in my closet doing nothing and I think maybe putting in some Tom Jones substitutes will "do the trick" to make me interested again. I might even add a tremelo to make Trambone come alive.

I am a bit red-faced over my last post. I said Tom Jones pickups when I should haved said TV Jones pickups. I also said I was going to fit a tremelo to my Fender when the right word is Vibrato. I'll get it all straight one of these days.
