"New Messages" doesn't work

I see what the "New Messages" under Chet's picture is supposed to do but it always show zero when I open the board
This means I have to search the sidebars for recent dates/times
something broke?

norm -
I believe the "New Messages" link refers to private messages (PM) that someone else has sent only to you. For "new posts", click on "View Active Topics".
'Course you probably already know that, and I just misunderstood your question...

The "view new posts" tab is the one I like. It shows new posts that have been made since my last visit.

That's what I mistakenly thought the 'new messages' link was.
